Mrs. Kohn’s Classroom Expectations 7th & 8th Grade Science
- Students will maintain respect for everyone and their property.
- This means no horseplay, no rude or foul language, and no bullying. Treat people how they would like to be treated. Do not write on the desks! Follow the student handbook!
- Be prepared for class.
- Bring your textbook, pen or pencil, binder, completed assignments, and be in your assigned seat on time every day. Three or more tardies will result in a discipline referral.
- Everyone will work during class time.
- Students will not be allowed to work on other subjects, unless they have already completed the day’s instructions and have permission. Also, students will work until the bell rings each day. We will not be going to the door and waiting for the bell.
- Students will remain in the classroom until permission is given to leave the room.
- Students will be dismissed by the teacher, not by the bell. A student will not be allowed to leave the classroom without permission and having the agenda book signed by the teacher. Use restroom/locker/office passes wisely. You are allowed only 3 per quarter!
- Students will do their work.
- Any student found cheating on a test or assignment will receive a zero unless eligible for a 24 hour extension to redo an assignment for a maximum grade of 70% D.
- Please turn in all assignments.
- 7th/8th grade Late Work Policy: For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters, late work will be accepted with a 20% deduction for 1 calendar week. (Example: If the assignment is due on Wednesday, the student has until the following Wednesday by 3:12 or last bell to turn in the late assignment.) For 4th quarter, NO late work will be accepted. No name papers will be accepted with a 10% deduction if claimed within the one week period.
- Your assignments will be posted on our school website and homework hotline.
- Substitute teachers and visitors may be in our building from time to time. Misbehavior during these times will result in a discipline referral.
- Always do your best!
I am looking forward to an exciting year at FHJHS! Please return the signed expectations to Mrs. Kohn.
Thank you,
Mrs. Kohn
Simplified Classroom Disruption Policy: This policy assists in creating a positive environment in which all students can learn. For reoccurring classroom disruptions, such as: continuous talking, frequently out of seat, chewing on gum-candy-or any objects (choking hazards and a distraction), late assignments, leaving books and belongings, not prepared for class, and refusing to work will warrant a detention. 1st = warning, 2nd = 25 minute detention, and 3rd = 45 minute detention. Like tardies, no points are issued unless the student is disrespectful or insubordinate. These behaviors pull other students off-task and take time away from instruction as the teacher must redirect the student and address the issue. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance with helping us reiterate expectations.
