Grading Procedures
Grades for your child will come from tests/quizzes, projects, participation/daily work, and homework. Tests and quizzes will be properly prepared for in class via review games and study guides. The students will have to put time in outside of class as well. Although homework will be rare, it is vital that it is completed and turned in the day it is due. Students who have excused absences will be given two days to make up their work for each day missed. This work must be completed during study hall or at home. Students with an unexcused absence will only have one day to make up the work that was missed. It is the responsibility of the student to collect and finish any work due to an absence. I as the teacher, will remind students of late or missing work. Along with regular work, students in my room will be working toward reaching IEP goals and objectives.
Be Prepared - Bring all materials needed for class including but not limited to pencils, paper, binder, agenda, textbook, folder, and any other materials requested by the teacher. You will only have 3 passes to leave the room each quarter so make sure you have everything you need. Being prepared for class also means that you need to be in your seats when the bell rings to begin class. If a student needs something they do not have, classroom supplies will be available for students to use in the room.
Be Respectful- In this room, we will treat others how we would like to be treated. Horseplay, rude and foul language, and bullying will not be tolerated. The desks and computers are school property, and they will not be written on. Respect others' property and belongings.
Have Integrity - Students are expected to always try their best, work hard, and do their own work! If students work hard in class they will rarely have homework. We will work bell to bell to finish activities that will broaden horizons amongst the class. Students will also work on classroom assignments only, unless given permission to work on other subjects after completion of classroom work.
Be Dedicated- Students are to make sure any supplies or materials of mine that they use during the class period, will be put away in the appropriate place they found them in before leaving the classroom. This will help make sure that all students are allowed to use my materials and that we have enough for the year. Turn in all of your work on time and completed!
Have Etiquette- Use appropriate voice levels when in the classroom. DO NOT speak over someone! Only one person will speak at a time, while others listen to what he or she has to say. This also includes when a substitute teacher is in our room. Treat that adult with the respect he or she deserves. Any discipline problem with a substitute teacher will result in an office referral. Stay on task and focused!
*** Any student found cheating on a test or assignment will receive a zero unless eligible for a 24 hour extension to redo “an assignment” for a maximum grade of 70%D. Remember, cheating only hurts the person cheating because they aren’t truly learning the material.
Consequences: (3 Strikes you’re out policy minimum)
Simplified Classroom Disruption Policy: This policy assists in creating a positive environment in which all students can learn. For reoccurring classroom disruptions, such as: continuous talking, frequently out of seat, chewing on gum-candy-or any objects (choking hazards and a distraction), late assignments, leaving books and belongings, not prepared for class, and refusing to work will warrant a detention. 1st = warning, 2nd = 25 minute detention, and 3rd = 45 minute detention. Like tardies, no points are issued unless the student is disrespectful or insubordinate. These behaviors pull other students off-task and take time away from instruction as the teacher must redirect the student and address the issue. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance with helping us reiterate expectations.
